This is a great time capsule film from 1956 of Le Mans winner Mike Hawthorne taking a preview lap of Le Mans in a D type Jaguar. The road is open to the public and there are few close calls with cyclists. It’s not often we get to see period cars in action during the golden age of sports car racing.
